96-year-old gran shares her "all day long" energy blueprint
At 94-year-old Johanna Quaas looks like a typical gran with her oval glasses and poofy white hair...
But she’s anything but typical.
At 86 she set the Guinness World Record for being the oldest gymnast.
And she still participates in competitions to this day.
So when you see her swinging around, doing somersaults, and getting in a split, you can’t help but wonder, “what’s her secret?!”
It’s no surprise that Johanna’s go-to is exercising her body.
And there are two specific reasons why that is.
1) She exercises to prevent falls and injuries
2) To help her stay full of energy
And keeping energy levels high throughout the day is something that many people over 50 struggle with.
If that’s you, the good news you don’t have to get on a gymnastics mat...
Or exercise for hours on end.
In fact, the solution is much simpler than that according to Harvard Medical School
They point to these 5 ways to help you have more energy each day...
#1. Daily walks. Just 20 min a day helps to increase your blood flow, boosts your energy, and improves your heart health.
#2. Exercise your mind. Stress-related emotions can be a big energy drain. To help you navigate the stress, try meditation, yoga, or just deep-breathing.
#3. Eat for energy. Consuming foods high in sugar can give you quick energy, but it will wear off just as quickly. Instead, try to eat food with a low glycemic index like whole-grains and high protein foods.
#4. Use the help of the sunshine Vitamin. Adequate levels of Vitamin D in your blood help to keep your energy stable throughout the day.
#5. Drink more water. Did you know that your body becomes thirsty before you actually feel the need to drink? So drinking water even when you don’t feel like you need to can help with daily energy boosts.
Sure, these 5 practices won’t see you beating Johanna Quass’ Guinness World Record any time soon…
But they will help you enjoy the energy that lasts all-day long
Hope this helps, speak soon!
