Feeling Down?
How have you been feeling lately?
With the days much darker and colder, would you say you’ve noticed a change in your mood, symptoms or energy levels?
SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a condition that many people experience at this time of the year as the days get darker and darker.
It can cause depressive emotions, poor moods, lack of energy, difficulty concentrating, a desire to sleep, sweet cravings, irritability and weight gain.
If this is something that could be affecting you there are a few steps that can be taken to help to combat it….
Daylight
Firstly, I’d recommend getting as much daylight as possible.
I know that’s not always easy but when it is possible to get outside and go for a bit of a walk during the daylight hours, then do so.
SAD Lamp
What’s more, you could buy a “SAD lamp”.
These emit a special kind of light, and if you spend enough time in front of it, it can help to alleviate the symptoms.
Diet
Certain foods can help to increase serotonin production (our ‘feel good’ hormone).
Things such as fish, chicken, turkey, avocado, bananas can all be good here.
Supplements
Supplement wise, the right forms of magnesium can be very energising so covering that base is incredible important – check out “Advanced Magnesium” for the ideal product there.
And finally, many of the above-mentioned symptoms can be caused by a severe vitamin D deficiency (because the sun is our main source of vitamin D).
Therefore, supplementing with vitamin D normally makes sense for most people, and is something the government recommends.
It’s one major reason that we included it in our one a day Multivitamin and Mineral formula, “Advanced Multi”.
Hopefully that’s helped to show you that there is a way to improve how you feel during these months, but if you have any questions just let us know and we’ll do our best to help.
