“Advanced Magnesium” is what we genuinely consider to be the most effective, well absorbed, purest magnesium supplement on the market.
Magnesium is the fourth most common mineral in the body, but due to a variety of reasons, it can all too easily become deficient, leading to a variety of symptoms.
WHY IS MAGNESIUM IMPORTANT?
In reality, we could write for days about the number of tasks that our bodies could not perform without appropriate levels of magnesium because it helps regulate more than 300 different biochemical reactions in the body!
In particular, without magnesium, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for the body to produce the required amount of energy.
Here's a list of a few things magnesium is important for...
-Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue
-Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance
-Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
-Magnesium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system
-Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function
-Magnesium contributes to normal protein synthesis
-Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function
-Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones
-Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth
-Magnesium has a role in the process of cell division
Phew, quite a list huh?!
IS MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENTATION NECESSARY?
Because magnesium is a macro mineral (other macro minerals include potassium, calcium and sodium) it is required in fairly large quantities and must be supplied by the diet or through supplementation (the body cannot make its own).
Excretion of magnesium is increased when the body’s cortisol levels are raised. Cortisol is a stress hormone and will increase when any stress is put on the body (whether that be mental / emotional stress, or physical stress such as through exercise, injury, infections, toxin exposure, or eating foods to which the body is sensitive / intolerant).
Excess sugar and salt intake can further deplete magnesium stores.
Dietary guidelines say that in order to get adequate magnesium, our diets should include an array of vegetables and fruits, good fats and oils, dairy products, proteins and whole grains. Some ready made foods are fortified with magnesium, such as breakfast cereals, however these are usually only at low dosages.
Even with a fantastic diet, and minimal stress (who has that?!) magnesium levels can become depleted simply because its not as easy these days as it used to be to get appropriate amounts of magnesium from the diet. Modern farming methods mean that the amount of magnesium now found in our food is much lower than it used to be perhaps 25 years ago.
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAGNESIUM
There are a number of different types of magnesium available including magnesium glycinate, threonate, taurate, citrate, orotate, malate and oxide.
But how do you know which one to use?
Or do they all have the same effect?
The short answer is no.
Some forms have a laxative effect while others don’t, some promote a feeling of calm while some can lead to anxiety. Others have more bioavailability while others are less bioavailable.
Often just using one form of magnesium is not sufficient and to get the maximum benefit a combination of forms would be most appropriate. However, the most common supplements on the market do only come in one form and is often not readily absorbed by the body.
With Advanced Magnesium we have created what we consider to be the most effective, beneficial, bioavailable, magnesium supplement available.
It is made up of a combination of Magnesium Glycinate, Magnesium L-Threonate, Magnesium Taurate, and Magnesium Orotate.
