How Stress Affects Your Health
How are your stress levels?
I freely admit I don’t always practice what I preach with my health.
I eat well the majority of the time, without being obsessive about it.
But when it comes to reducing stress, taking time out for myself and just relaxing, I don’t do it anywhere near as often as I should.
Are you the same?
I know a lot of people are…
There always seems so much to do doesn’t there?
However, if there is one thing that is going to adversely affect health, it’s going to be stress.
Stress affects our gut bacteria, it affects our immune system, and it adds to inflammation.
All of those things lead to a big worsening of symptoms in most health conditions.
Because of this I would encourage you to take some time now to think about what you can do to help better manage / reduce stress levels in your life.
One thing that’s always helped me is, for any situation which may stress me out, asking these questions:
1. Can I change it?
If I can, then I should change that situation, and it will no longer cause me stress.
2. Can I remove myself from it?
If there’s a situation that’s stressing me out, and I can’t change it, could I remove myself from it? For example, if my job was a stressor, and I couldn’t change the job, then could I remove myself from it and find a job I liked?
3. Accept It
Easier said than done this one, but if I can’t change a situation, and cant remove myself from it, then the only other sensible option is to accept the situation as it is. And by mentally accepting it, that helps to drastically reduce your stress.
The impact it can have on your health is huge.
Supplements
Finally, certain nutrients can help to better control the stress response in your body.
For example, Magnesium often seems to help many of our customers (it’s been shown to help support psychological function, and also often seems to help support a good nights sleep).
It’s something that many people are deficient in and has endless health benefits.
And there’s also the B vitamins found in our Advanced Multi which work in a similar way, and again have multiple health benefits.
Hope that helps.
