Managing Joint Pain / Arthritis?
At some point everyone will start to get the odd bit of wrist pain or stiff back, especially as we age.
An element of wear and tear to our joints as we get older is a fact of life but excessive pain, and chronic difficulty moving is debilitating.
Chronic joint pain / arthritis can be crippling, affecting life in so many ways.
More than 10 million people in the UK are living with arthritis and that number only appears to be increasing.
It’s one reason our “Joint Bundle” has become so popular.
So, what is arthritis and what can be done about it?
What is Arthritis?
Arthritis is a condition characterised by stiff, painful, aching, hard to move joints, caused by inflammation.
There are a few different types of arthritis, the most common being Osteoarthritis.
This occurs when the cartilage between your joints and bones become inflamed and wears down.
Cartilage is made up of collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin and other substances. It covers the end of bones where they meet the joints.
Eventually, as cartilage deteriorates, the bones will rub together (because the cartilage isn’t there any longer to soothe) leading to pain and poor mobility.
There is no one exact cause of this but genetics, gender, lifestyle, diet, injuries, weight, age and more all play a part.
Other forms of arthritis include rheumatoid arthritis (an autoimmune condition), and psoriatic arthritis. All forms affect the joints in some way.
Preventing / Managing Joint Pain
Whilst there’s not necessarily a “cure” for joint problems, it is possible to take certain steps to support your joint health (or minimise the chances of it becoming an issue for you in the future)…
Healthy Weight
Obesity increases the risk of arthritis and puts an increased strain on your joints.
Excess fat can also disrupt your hormones and increase inflammation - further wearing down the cartilage in the joints.
Therefore, managing your weight will be important to consider if you are overweight.
Diet
Your diet can make a big difference to your joints.
For example, some foods will increase inflammation in the body, worsening the wear and tear on the joints.
And other foods (and supplements) will provide your body with the nutrients it needs to reduce inflammation, soothe the joints and support healthy levels of cartilage and collagen (critical for joint health).
Supplement
Getting the body where it needs to be to feel as healthy as possible is increasingly hard in this day and age.
Foods are less nutritious, we are more stressed, much busier, etc. This can mean supplementation is often needed to give some extra help.
Our “Joint Bundle” contains our Advanced Turmeric, Advanced Glucosamine and Advanced Collagen at a large saving.
These contain a wide range of ingredients and have been enhanced with Vitamin C which contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones and cartilage.
