How to Beat Colds and Flu
The flu jab, each year, seems to be promoted more and more.
Doctors surgeries are absolutely covered in posters advising people to have it.
The flu can be awful but I must admit I’m not sure I’m convinced that the majority of the population need to get the flu jab (as opposed to just those at most risk).
It must be costing the NHS a fortune.
I’m sure the cost could be put to better use, especially when you consider that for every 40 people who have the vaccine, studies show it actually only helps to prevent one case of the flu!
That’s pretty crazy, especially when you consider that there are many things people can be doing with their diet and lifestyle to help better protect them.
Obviously a nutrient rich, healthy diet is a great start point, as well as minimising stress and getting plenty of sleep. That will all help to support the immune system.
What’s more, an analysis published in the press a while ago showed that Vitamin D supplements (such as Advanced D3) may help to prevent colds and flu in as many as 3 million people every year, because it helps support the immune system (amongst other things).
The government and Public Health England have long recommended that everyone in the UK and Ireland supplement with vitamin D because our main source is from the sun which most of us don’t get enough of.
Additionally, Vitamin C (found in high amounts in our Advanced Vitality) can be particularly important for your health, as can Magnesium.
In fact, any nutrient deficiency can, in reality, weaken the immune system, leaving you more exposed to things such as colds and flu. That’s one reason why we created our Multivitamin.
To add a quick disclaimer, I’m definitely not giving medical advice or saying you shouldn’t have the flu jab.
And no matter how many nutrients and supplements you have in your life, you can never be 100% certain to avoid a cold / flu (we don’t have the cure unfortunately).
But there ARE many other (natural) things that can be done to help support the immune system and many important aspects of your health.
I hope it helps.
