Menopause? 4 ways to avoid a “silent disease”
Because this Sunday is World’s Menopause day, there’s something I wanted to share with you.
During menopause, there’s a disease that affects 80% of women as they age.
Something that many doctors call as risky and dangerous as breast cancer.
Perhaps it’s because just like cancer, it too is known as the “silent disease.”
Unfortunately, most women start treating this disease when it’s already too late.
What am I talking about?
Osteoporosis.
There are two types of osteoporosis.
The first is called Primary osteoporosis.
It usually affects women ages 50-65 - or even sooner if they’ve had early menopause.
This type of osteoporosis happens due to significant drops of estrogen during menopause…
Which reduces bone density, making the bones weaker.
It’s the type that affects every other woman in the UK.
The second type is called senile osteoporosis.
This usually develops slightly later (age 70+) and is caused by the natural process of ageing.
Unfortunately, once a woman develops osteoporosis it’s hard to treat it.
And when a woman with osteoporosis falls and breaks her bones, it could lead to a long recovery, daily aches, and pain.
That’s bad news.
But there is good news.
The severity of this silent disease depends on a couple of factors.
One of which is the amount of bone density you had before you reached menopause.
You see, the stronger your bones are, and the higher your bone density is, to begin with — the lower your risk of developing osteoporosis.
This means that developing this silent disease can be optional.
And the best preventative treatment to keep your bones strong and dense includes four steps:
But that’s not all.
Because it turns out that doctors and researchers all over the world have noticed a link between these 4 steps of prevention AND managing the disease.
This means that if you or your loved one had been diagnosed with this bone-breaking illness there is still hope to slow the spread down — and in some cases improve the symptoms.
You (or your loved ones) can follow the four simple steps I listed above to help improve bone strength and density...
And enjoy life without the painful constraints or worries brought by this disease — even if you have osteoporosis right now...
Because it’s never too late to start preventing or improving the symptoms.
Lastly, even if you’re not 45+ just yet, you still can keep an eye on your calcium and vitamin D levels and start strength training…
Consider it an ‘insurance policy’ for the future...
Because prevention is better than cure.
