Foods to Help Support Heart Health
Heart disease is a very real (increasing) problem.
Fortunately, there are measures people can take to lower their risk of heart disease…
Many of these you likely are at least aware of (eat mainly unprocessed foods, minimise stress, etc) but there is also a lot of poor information out there and at times it can get confusing.
We aren’t going to completely clear up that confusion here and now (its something that many books could be written about) but there are certain foods that may help to support heart health.
Here’s a few…
Not everyone tolerates it well (especially those with digestive issues) but garlic is often thought of as being good for the heart.
Omega 3 – found in fish oil – has long been known to be good at supporting health health. This is found in fish such as mackerel, salmon, herring, and sardines. If you don’t eat a few portions of these each week then something such as Advanced Fish Oil will be worth considering…

Some good news is that dark chocolate is on the list! This is high in antioxidants, which can help boost heart health, and studies have shown a link between eating chocolate and a lower risk of heart disease.
Bring on the vegetables. A wide range of veg is always going to be beneficial but worth of mention are leafy greens which can be a great source of vitamin K, and Carrots, peppers, and sweet potatoes which contain carotenoids, as well as fibre and many other nutrients, to help support heart health.
Nuts – almonds and walnuts in particular – contain unsaturated fatty acids, omega-3, fibre, vitamin E, plant sterols, and L-arginine. The drawback is that they are high in calories, so eat in moderation.
Although not exactly a food, CoQ10 is an antioxidant and whilst no official health claims can be made about it just yet it has been linked to heart health and is commonly recommended by nutritionists for people who need to take statins. Its one reason we have included it in our multivitamin and mineral product Advanced Multi - https://autoimmuneinstitute.com/pages/advanced-multi
Its never too soon to start thinking about heart health so we really hope this article helps.
