One of the biggest problems for many of our customers seems to be fatigue.
Does that apply to you too?
Are your low energy levels stopping you from doing everything you want in life?
Fatigue can affect all aspects of life; performance at work / business, social life, relationships, intimacy, and more.
Living with such fatigue can make life a constant struggle
What frustrates me is that doctors often refuse to even acknowledge it! Time and time again I hear people brush this off as they are working too hard, or it’s their age.
Trust me, it’s not your age – you can still feel energetic as you grow older!
But it does almost always start in the gut.
Here’s 4 reasons why problems in the gut would cause fatigue…
What many people don’t realise is that 80% of your immune system is located in and around your gut.
Without your gut being in a healthy place, you simply won’t have a healthy immune system.
And an unhealthy immune system will lead to a LOT of problems.
In particular you will be exposed to more and more infections, because your body is less able to fight them off, and this can leave you extremely run down, leading to low energy.
It’s far from being the only thing needed but one reason that one of our supplements - Advanced Vitality – can, over time, help to improve energy levels, is that it’s particularly high in Vitamin C which is known to help support the immune system.
When the lining of the gut is damaged this can lead to what’s known as intestinal permeability (also commonly referred to as “leaky gut”).
When your gut is “leaky” things like toxins, bugs and undigested food particles can make their way into the blood stream.
Your immune system mistakenly sees these things as a problem, which stimulates a reaction, increasing inflammation through the body, and leading to a number of symptoms, including fatigue.
Healing a “leaky gut” is a critical step in turning your health around.
Following on from the above, the inflammation that results from a damaged gut means that the nutrients from the foods you do eat will not be absorbed as effectively.
Over time, this will lead to severe nutrient deficiencies, and again that will lead to fatigue.
Even if you have a good nutritious, varied diet fatigue can still result if you have inflammation because the nutrients aren’t being absorbed properly.
This is why getting to the root of your problems is so important, but also why things that can reduce inflammation levels can be especially effective.
Medication and Hormones
When someone is suffering with symptoms the doctor will almost always recommend medication.
And quite simply, the common side effects from some of this medication is fatigue.
I’m obviously NOT saying that medication isn’t needed but I have heard several stories of people who actually feel better and more energetic when they aren’t taking the drugs (that doesn’t apply to everyone so please don’t confuse this with me suggesting you should just stop taking your meds!).
What’s more, medication isn't necessarily addressing the cause of the symptoms which means that the underlying problem still exist, which can place a huge strain on your body.
There’s basically a constant battle going on between the underlying issues and the medication.
This constant strain can ultimately lead to fatigue – it’s the body’s way of saying it can’t cope any more.
The constant stress and strain will severely impact your hormone levels too.
For example, your cortisol, testosterone, oestrogen and DHEA (all important hormones for feelings of well-being, energy and libido) will be affected by your underlying problems and the medication you may be on.
Now there are other causes of fatigue more simplistic than the above (things such as not eating enough, not drinking enough water, not sleeping enough, and so on) but fixing the gut is certainly a critical step.
