If having brittle, weak and soft nails is a concern,
You’ll be surprised to hear it has nothing to do with ageing.
It’s down to one of the five reasons I’m about to share with you.
(Look out for how to reverse each issue so you can have strong and healthy nails again.)
Most people think their nail issue is due to iron deficiency.
So they only focus on getting this one nutrient. And that might be true.
But there are three other nutrients your body needs to have strong, shiny and healthy nails, like:
Omega-3s give your nails a shiny, healthy look.
Collagen strengthens your nails and makes them grow.
Magnesium evens out those vertical “ridges” (they’re a sign of magnesium deficiency).
When you wash dishes, clean the toilet, and mop the floors, your hands get wet.
That makes your nails swell.
And when they dry out, so do your nails.
They shrink up losing all the moisture and over time become frail.
Plus all the harsh chemicals in the cleaning supplies are the perfect storm for “brittle nails disaster”.
You’ve probably heard about eating more protein to help you lose weight and keep your muscles strong.
But eating more protein can also help you grow strong and healthy nails.
Because protein boosts the production of keratin.
And keratin is what your nails are made of.
So the more keratin there is the stronger your nails are.
It’s true that biotin helps with hair growth.
But several studies suggest a small dose of biotin daily leads to growing thick and strong nails.
So it might be a good idea to give it a try.
Chances are you’ve used moisturising lotions in your life at least once.
But it turns out not all moisturising lotions work the same.
See, only lotions that have a specific acid will have the best moisturising effect.
This acid helps to hydrate your nails.
So be sure to look for lotions that contain alpha-hydroxy acid lanolin as an ingredient.
As you can see none of these reasons has to do with ageing.
But everything with taking care of your body inside and out.
Hope you find these tips to help with brittle nails helpful.
